Frequently Asked Questions
DO I NEED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE?
We have class options available for all levels, including complete beginners with no experience. Select "Beginners Start Here" in our Classes menu to see all available options for complete beginners!
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
You should bring a bottle of water to all classes - hydration is important and you'll definitely work up a sweat! You should also try to arrive wearing your class outfit underneath your outerwear when possible, as changing space is very limited (but available when needed). Suggested clothing is included in each class description. If your class requires specific shoes, you should bring these separately, as we don't allow outdoor footwear to be worn on the studio floor.
HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE IN EACH CLASS?
Core classes (all of our pole tricks classes, as well as burlesque and hips heels and feels) are limited to 10 people, with 2 people to a pole where applicable. Our Plus+ classes (all choreo classes except for burlesque and hips, heels & feels) are limited to 5-6 people, with 1 person per pole. Yoga capacity tbc.
Do you allow men in to your classes?
We welcome people of all genders in to our classes who feel our values resonate with them.
My friend comes to your classes but I'm still 17 - can I come to classes with them?
We only allow people who are aged 18 or older to attend our classes in all instances - but definitely come back after your 18th birthday!
Can I bring my friend to watch a class?
We don't allow any spectators in any of our classes for the safety and comfort of everyone involved. This includes friends, partners, family members or anybody else who isn't booked on to the class - even if they're just waiting for you. The exception is if a participant requires a chaperone and this must be arranged with the instructor beforehand.
Where can I park?
There is plenty of on-street parking surrounding the studio. Best bets are usually Bishop Street, Bromhead Street or Clarence Street. Most parking is 1-2 hours free before 6pm and unlimited after 6pm, but please check before leaving your car.
Why don't you run Pole Fitness classes?
Our Pole Syllabus classes are what many other studios refer to as "pole fitness" or "pole sport". In these classes, you'll learn a variety of pole tricks and combos. We steer away from the terms "pole fitness" and "pole sport" as they have historically been used in an attempt to gentrify pole as a hobby and distance it from it's strip club roots - something that we believe should be championed and celebrated! In addition, by only referring to our tricks-based classes as "pole fitness" this ignores the fitness benefits of our other class types. Try one of our Pole Fitness classes and one of our Sexy Pole classes and see which one leaves you feeling more tired!
Do you offer any student discounts?
We don't currently offer any student discounts. We do offer a discount for sex workers - please email shona@provocafit.co.uk for more information. Please note that privacy will be a priority for these requests and no details will be shared with any other individual. Discount codes will be randomised and will not allude to SW.
